The common thread of influence running through all my work is a fascination with the historical artifact, both in subject matter and style. The aesthetic effect of pieces of various random detail to represent glimpses of the greater whole has always been a powerful one for me. Whether it be pieces of old paintings, torn drawings, photographs, or partial letters, these works are built up out of fragments of my own past.
